IMG_3007Two Frenchmen were arrested in Pattaya Saturday morning for selling counterfeit sportswear including football jerseys online. The arrests followed a raid on one of the suspects’ rented room in South Pattaya.
Police reportedly found “11 parcels containing 16 shirts bearing brand names including Adidas and Nike”, as well as “lists of customers wanting to buy the counterfeit products and accounts detailing payments for the goods.” The suspect, named as Olivier Simon Guigui, 30, was allegedly “preparing to send the items by mail to customers in France” when police raided the room.
Another 30-year-old Frenchman, named as Morgan Akcherirlian, was later apprehended at an apartment on Pratamnak Road Soi 6 and also had “some counterfeit sportswear” seized from his room.
The Bangkok Post reports that the two young expats were allegedly operating a website for selling “fake versions of well-known branded shirts.” They would reportedly buy the fake shirts from Thai traders and then resell them to customer in France.
