Songkran, the traditional Thai new year festival and often touted as the “world’s largest water battle”, has finally kicked off in Pattaya. We haven’t made it downtown yet ourselves (truth be told, this is our 17th Songkran in Pattaya and our enthusiasm for this one-week mayhem is somewhat restrained) but it seems like this year, aside from the usual water-splashing hotspots such as Beach Road, Soi 6 and Soi 7, Pattaya is much quieter than usual over Songkran.
Having said that, visitors should still find it virtually impossible to stay dry anywhere around Pattaya this week. Here’s a small collection of the coolest clips we’ve found on the Internet. Watch and enjoy as you stay dry behind your screen!
