Following the longest-lasting heat wave in recent memory and near record temperatures for almost two months Pattaya finally got see the first notable rainfall this year in the last couple of days, resulting in a slight yet most welcome drop in temperatures.
Now the Thai Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms, strong winds and possibly more heavy rainfall in 21 provinces across most parts of Thailand in the next five days. A weather alert has also been issued for the Eastern seaboard and Chonburi province where Pattaya is situated.
Experts have also warned of high waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand from May 19-23 and dangerous side-effects resulting from strong winds such as knocking over trees and billboards.
Is this finally the long-awaited end of this year’s record heat wave and the beginning of the rainy season?
