Two Russian men, aged 27 and 35, were arrested in Pattaya on Tuesday for reportedly using fake ATM cards containing stolen bank account information at a number of shops in Pattaya.
Police eventually seized 79 bank cards, a laptop computer and skimming devices from the men’s rented apartment on Soi 10 off South Pattaya Road.
The arrests of the two Ruskis followed an alert by Kasikornbank that had just processed two transactions with the cards.
Pattaya One reports:
One was used to purchase items at a shopping center on Pattaya Beach and the second transaction was in the process of being made at a travel shop in Soi 13 off Pattaya Beach Road where someone was trying to purchase air tickets to Dubai.
Police immediately rushed to the travel agency and arrested the first Russian suspect who was carrying “a number of cards which were suspected of containing stolen bank account details”. For some reason, Pattaya One notes, the arrested man was “more than happy to tell police that he had an accomplice” who was swiftly apprehended at his rented room.
Both men have been charged with bank card fraud and are now facing an extended holiday at the Bangkok Hilton.
