A young Thai woman was brutally killed outside a 7-Eleven convenience store near the Simon bar complex on Walking Street at around 7 p.m. Thursday night.
The young woman, allegedly a local bar girl, was reportedly stabbed multiple times and had her throat slit by her Thai ex-boyfriend following a “domestic dispute” in public.
According to early reports, the woman later died and the Thai “boyfriend” was arrested on the spot.
UPDATE – Pattaya One has more details on this disturbing murder case and identifies the killer as a 21-year-old Thai soldier who recently “escaped from his barracks in Lopburi province so he could search for his estranged girlfriend” in Pattaya.
After finding his 33-year-old ex-lover-cum-bar girl with a foreign man in South Pattaya, the young man bought two knives and “stabbed her repeatedly in front of hundreds of shocked tourists on Walking Street”. The woman later succumbed to multiple stab wounds to her back, chest and throat.
Pattaya One reports that the victim
was with two other female friends and two Australian men at the time of the incident, who were all slightly injured as they fought off the attacker. The private approached from behind initially and stabbed the victim in her back. He then repeatedly stabbed her in the chest and then cut her across her throat.
The private later told police that he had gone AWOL from his barracks in Lopburi in a desperate attempt to search for his former girlfriend who had split from him. He discovered she worked in a bar and had a new foreign boyfriend. Just before the attack he purchase two knives at a nearby store and waited for her to appear and then attacked her.
R.I.P. Khun Vilailak – that’s reportedly the victim’s name. Given the social background of a good deal of Thai bar girls (broken relationships with local men, economic/financial pressure), this is sadly the kind of tragedy that we’re actually surprised doesn’t happen more often in places like Pattaya. Sad to say.
