A 50-year-old Norwegian tourist was reportedly allegedly and robbed by an unidentified motorcycle taxi driver in Pattaya Thursday morning after a night out on Walking Street.
According to the Bangkok Post, Mr. Tore Klungeruik told police had been drinking at a couple of bars on Walking Street till the wee hours of the morning and then “hailed a passing motorcycle taxi to take him back to his room” at a fare of 200 Baht.
But instead of taking the Norwegian tourist back to his hotel, the motorcycle taxi driver allegedly rode around Pattaya for half an hour before stopping his bike on Pattaya Third Road and attacking his foreign passenger.
The Bangkok Post reports that the Thai man
hit him in the face with his elbow, knocking him off the back of the bike onto the ground. He then kicked him several times before robbing him of his cash and smartphone.
Mr. Tore claims that the motorbike taxi driver stole an estimated 12,000 Baht and his iPhone before fleeing on his motorbike.
Police said they would examine CCTV footage in the area in an attempt to identify and arrest the culprit.
