An unknown number of Chinese tourists were injured when their chartered tour bus en route to Pattaya was cut in front by a truck, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a road sign.
The tour bus was carrying 30 Chinese tourists from Bangkok to Pattaya when the accident occurred on the Chonburi-bound motorway early Friday afternoon. Several tourists were slightly injured and rushed to a local hospital.
The accident happened as 12,000 Chinese tourists are flocking to Pattaya this week after their Chinese company paid them a bonus in the form of a free holiday. One of their destinations in Thailand include Pattaya.
ThaiVisa.com quotes the 24-year-old driver as saying that he had just “passed through the Lat Krabang toll gate” when a truck suddenly “changed lane from the leftmost lane to cut into his front”.
The driver admitted he had been “driving fast” and “had to swerve to the roadside” where the coach struck the guardrail and crashed into a road sign.
